We purchased the run down Takapau farmhouse in late winter 2010 with the intention of creating comfortable accommodation with ambience where people can stay without the formality of a hotel or the impersonal feel of a motel. We aim to make your stay a memorable experience, ask and we will do what it takes.
The renovations included installing a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms new wood burners and heat pumps for summer and winter comfort plus redecorating and carpeting throughout. Much of the outdoor work has been done by wwoofers we host (see the blog for more details about wwoofers) who are all surprised by the history of Takapau.
Takapau has a well stocked Four Square selling most of your needs there is also a takeaway and a small cafe. The nearby town of Waipukurau offers restaurants bars and supermarkets.
The Gardens are always changing giving colour all year round and attracting the nectar feeding birds such as Tuis and Bellbirds. We intend to create a permanent petanque court and add other fun things to do as you meander around the garden listening to the native birds roosting in the shrubs and trees.
Tuis, fantails and wood pigeons to name a few frequent the garden Bell birds sometimes come close enough to touch.
Our facilities include: internet, movie library, games and more. (enjoy a relaxed breakfast in the garden on a nice summer day). . full board available priced to suit your requirements. Long stay (3 nights and more at reduced rates.
We are NZ Bed and Breakfast Association accredited for your peace of mind.
