Welcome to Maple Grove, Located in Takapau Central Hawke's Bay. Bed and Breakfast Accommodation with internal ambience and charm. Situated 20km south of Waipukurau and 30km north of Danevirke. Maple grove is an ideal base for your wine trail, a base for wedding party guests, business travellers, tourists or  just a quiet break in the countryside. 

We offer you superior accommodation in Takapau in our superior Bed and Breakfast. Maple Grove set on 3 acres planted with native and other trees including Maple, Oak, Totara and Rimu. Many flowering shrubs add  a colorful backdrop all year round. The Spring brings the camellias followed by the rhododendrons then the herbaceous borders  come to life along with the callas and  christmas lillies. Then bearded irises appear in midsummer followed by dahlias and bedding  plants which then steal the scene.

The House, built in 1911 has the warm glow from rimu door and window frames, quality furnishings add to the overall ambience. Take a winter break and relax by the wood fire in winter with a glass of your favourite wine.
and unlike most Bed and Breakfast establishments we have installed a sprinkler system, smoke alarms and we also belong to the Band B association who set high standards and ensure public liability insurance is in place.

Takapau, 20km south of Waipukurau has a proud military history much of which is recorded on the Oruawharo Homestead site, the town also has a proud Maori heritage and several sporting clubs including rugby, tennis, golf and bowls. There are trout in abundance in the nearby rivers and streams.
You will find everything you need for a relaxing stay whether it be for a wedding,at Oruawharo, just 4km from Takapau town.Fishing, tramping in the Ruahine ranges or just chilling out in our grounds. 

Indoors you will find comfortable and airy rooms. An extensive library of books, videos and games and two sitting areas with lush leather suites. Outdoors there is ample seating for relaxation in 2 separate areas.

Like Wine? then you must Visit the local award winning vineyards of former All Black John and wife Jo  Ashworth's Junction wines located in Takapau, Pukeora Estate Waipukurau and Lime Rock  in Waipawa. Book a night or two at  Maple Grove  before or after your Hawkes Bay wine trail which can start or finish at Junction wines, Hawkes Bays most southern vineyard.

Catch a trout in the easily accessed Tukituki or Waipawa rivers and tributaries all access points are in easy reach of Takapau. Observe the planets on beautiful clear nights skies with no light pollution.

Go flying from the Waipukurau aero club or visit the Central Hawkes Bay Festival which takes place in September. 12km from Takapau

Hike or bike in the Ruahine Ranges and watch the sun rise from the sunrise hut or experience many other walks of various length and fitness levels.

Sit in the garden with a glass of wine and listen to:  Tuis, bell birds and fantails chattering in the gardens and other birds nestled in the vast array of native trees. Takapau has little light pollution so if you are a star gazer bring your telescope.
